Washer Repair
The GE Profile™ ENERGY STAR® 5.0 cu. ft. Capacity Washer with Smarter Wash Technology and FlexDispense™ (Model: PTW600BSRWS) must be installed correctly for best performance. This guide provides a clear step-by-step overview of the installation process. For full instructions, refer to GE’s official installation manual.
Tools and Parts Needed
Tools:
- Adjustable wrench
- Level
- Pliers
- Phillips-head screwdriver
Parts:
- Included washer accessories
- Hot and cold water inlet hoses (purchase separately if not included; GE recommends model WX14X10011 – 6 ft stainless steel hoses with 90° elbows)
Step-by-Step Installation
1. Unpack the Washer
- Remove the washer from packaging and inspect for damage.
- Remove all packing materials and shipping bolts.
2. Select the Installation Location
- Place the washer on a solid, level floor.
- Avoid extreme temperatures or confined areas.
- Leave space for dimensions: 43 7/8″ H x 27 7/8″ W x 28″ D.
3. Connect Water Supply Hoses
- Attach hoses to the home’s hot and cold water valves.
- Connect hoses to the washer’s water inlets (hot to hot, cold to cold).
- Tighten all connections and turn on water to check for leaks.
4. Install the Drain Hose
- Attach the drain hose to the washer’s outlet.
- Position the hose into a standpipe or laundry tub (minimum 30″ high).
- Secure the hose with a clip or tie to prevent dislodging.
5. Level the Washer
- Use a level to check the washer’s position.
- Adjust the leveling legs as needed (turn clockwise or counterclockwise).
- Once level, tighten the locking nuts to secure the legs.
6. Plug In the Washer
- Plug into a grounded 120V AC outlet.
- Do not use extension cords or adapters.
7. Test the Washer
- Run a test cycle without laundry.
- Check for leaks, unusual noises, or error messages.
